| Midel is
successfully operating in power transformers with ratings
up to 238 kV/ 135 MVA. VA Tech EBG, the Austrian transmission
and distribution transformer manufacturer have written
and published a brochure detailing the first MIDEL 7131
insulated 238kV power transformer. In high fire risk
locations and to minimise the risk of environmental
contamination, Vattenfall AB, a Swedish Utility company,
specified that the transformer in an underground location
had to be filled with MIDEL 7131.
Vattenfall have also used Midel in a high voltage transformer
(151kV) in the Umluspen power station in Storuman to
reduce the risk of fires in tunnels. The fluid has a very high fire resistance
and does not cause fire to spread. If it catches
fire it will extinguish extremely quickly.
