Across Europe and North America, MIDEL 7131 is specified by railway companies for their trackside substations and traction transformers. There are very good reasons why Midel is popular in the Railway sector:

Fire
Fires can have catastrophic consequences, especially in tunnels. Using Midel is a very effective measure to prevent fires and for example is used as a coolant in the electrical control equipment on locomotives in the Channel Tunnel.

Environment
As European environmental legislation addresses the serious issues of pollution and ground contamination, the biodegradability of Midel becomes more important. Midel is readily biodegradable so spillage into railtrack is less of a problem.
