MIDEL team receives award from India's energy minister

At the TRAFOSEM international transformer conference in Mumbai, the MIDEL team was recognised for its outstanding contribution to the proceedings. Nitin Satija, MIDEL's head of operations in India, received the award from Shri Piyush Goyal, the Honourable Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy for the Government of India. Mr. Satija accepted the award on behalf of MIDEL's Dr. Russell Martin who gave a presentation entitled "The Development of 400kV Class Synthetic Ester Transformers".

The presentation highlighted the growth of ester-based fluids in the transformer industry, and offered case studies and details of recent installations. Synthetic ester-based fluids have been used for many years in distribution and high performance transformers. Esters deliver cost benefits through reduced fire protection measures and simplified bunding arrangements.

Synthetic ester fluids are now being specified for transformers at the 400kV level.
